community profile.

The West End (also occasionally referred to as Gatchell) is a medium sized community that runs along Lorne St, just west of Sudbury’s Downtown.

This community was originally built to house many of the Vale (then INCO) workers at the nearby Copper Cliff refinery. Although it is still a popular residential area for the mining sector, it has diversified substantially with a nice mixture of renters, young families, and older retirees.

The community is anchored by the popular Delki Dozzi park, which includes running/bike paths, soccer fields, a baseball diamond, and more. It is also home to the Dynamic Earth tourist area, and the vibrant Caruso Club, home to a strong Italian community. As for amenities, there are ample services along Lorne street that are within walking distance, but residents can also access the restaurants and shopping of the nearby South End and Downtown areas, although a car or public transportation is probably needed to get there.

The homes in the West End are largely small to medium sized, and built between 1950-1980. With this in mind, the area offers tremendous value for first time home buyers and investors looking for rental properties.

The West End, with its ideal location, affordable housing, and popular local amenities, offers a quiet, comfortable community for just about anyone.
